Time Flies By
November 15, 2012

My wonderful brother-in-law, John, posted on Facebook tonight that he bought my nephew’s cap and gown today. My first thought was WHAT?!??? It seems like yesterday I remember his cute little self running around in a diaper!

And then their first Christmas in Missouri. They moved here in 2001 in a dreadful ice storm and were stuck in a hotel room for what seemed like months while they waited on their house! John John and Caroline were so worried Santa wouldn’t find them in a hotel! And that was almost 11 years ago. Time does indeed fly by.

So, you’re asking yourself, “What does that have to do with BAILEY???” I’m getting there. Patience, Grasshopper…

Well, after reading that post, I stumble onto a savings website (www.hip2save.com) where she posts all kinds of nifty finds on the internet that can save you big bucks. Tonight, she happened to have posted a side story about her family Christmas letter (that was a whopping 13 pages long, but good for her!) and how she was able to remember all of those little moments that happen in such a flash throughout the year. She has a cool idea that she jots down on post-it notes and sticks them to a special bulletin board. Then, at the end of the year, she’s doesn’t have to try and remember. I thought that was a great idea!

And then I realized, I already have that. Here. With the Bailey Daily. And I went back and read a couple and realized how much I missed capturing and treasuring those special moments. So, my plan is to start it back up…. So here goes!

First up… My treasured Nick Jr. doing a total belly flop with their new programming (at 9:00, they drop kids shows and show what I believe to be totally inappropriate for a 2-year-old “mom” shows). As such, Bailey has become a movie-holic. Now, granted, she rarely watches the entire movie, but she makes an effort. And with our extensive collection, she has quite a few options from which to choose!

Tonight, she selected an Easter favorite: Hop. (Of course, Johnny quipped, “You’re supposed to be watching CHRISTMAS movies!”), but Bailey is anything but traditional… So anywoo… Her favorite part is the music, big surprise! She LOVES to dance!!

So, without further ado:

I WANT CANDY!!

Appreciate the Little Things
November 7, 2011

After one of the worse days in a long time at work today, I walked into my mother-in-law’s house to silence.

I walked through the kitchen and into the living room where I was spotted without saying a word and greeted with an exuberant, “MOMMY!!”

Life got infinitely better sitting on her floor and watching my 22 month old bundle of never-ending joy run circles around me with infectious laughter.

After tucking her crying self into bed later (stupid time change), I found this article and thought it summed up my thoughts perfectly. Enjoy

Hello? Hello? Computer?
October 20, 2011

For you Star Trek fans, you can recall one of the scenes in one of the more recent movies where Scotty picks up an “age old” mouse and asks, “Hello? Hello? Computer?” because he can’t fathom that computers aren’t voice activated. (Of course, Siri is changing that quickly. Thank you, Apple!!!)

Today, when Johnny brought Bailey home, she actually repeated this scene. (Apparently EVERYTHING has the potential to be a phone nowadays!)

And, Johnny got it on his phone….

First you dial…

Then you speak into the mouse, “Hello?”

And, it’s for Mama!

More Shoes!
October 19, 2011

Today, I get a text from Johnny that contains this picture…

20111019-225952.jpg

So, while I’m trying to figure out why on earth my HUSBAND has MY HIGH HEELS in the BATHROOM, I get this…

20111019-230106.jpg

First, big sigh of relief! Johnny isn’t secretly wearing my shoes. Although it’s a little blurry, it’s not hard to determine the TRUE culprit, especially since I’ve been specifically telling her to leave those shoes alone in the closet. I think she’s entranced by the bling…

While I’m pondering how the heck she got these out of the bottom rung of my closet shoe rack (behind a whole bunch of other junk), I get this…

20111019-230359.jpg

So, while I’m now fretting that she’s trying to wear them, which will, no doubt, wind up in a broken neck (because given the number of bruises scattered on her legs and feet, she’s obviously inherited my lack of Grace… Wait til Daddy reads this one! I just bet there will be a comment!!!), I finally get one last picture…

20111019-230833.jpg

Meaning, with a sigh of total relief, that she’s also inherited my common sense (let that one go, Daddy!!) and has switched to sensible flats!! She’s so smart!!!

Just in case you couldn’t guess, today’s photo is brought to you by none other than Miss Bailey herself! We went over to Aunt Karen’s house to celebrate her birthday.

And here’s the photo I took once I got my phone back. As you can see, she was SOOOOO thrilled!

And here she is trying to BE the birthday present!!

Bailey’s Shoe Obsession
October 14, 2011

This morning while I was trying to get dressed, Bailey brought me a single black shoe out of my closet.

BUT, she didn’t hand it to me, she set it on the ground and WORE it to me. Then stepped out of it and went to retrieve the other one. And wore it into the bedroom, too!

Then, she proceeded to put both of them on and walk back out of the room, only to get out of the black pair and into a pair of gold ones. Which she promptly wore back into my bedroom. This went on about 3 more times until I told her it was time to go. BUT, not before I got some of it on video.

So, for all you, BaileyDailyphiles, click here to see it yourself!!

Up! Down! Wiggle! Flap!
October 13, 2011

While watching Ni-hao, Ki-lan (basically a Dora knockoff that uses Chinese instead of Spanish) this evening, they started to do, what they called the “dragon dance.” They instructed for you to jump up, crouch down, wiggle your body and then flap your arms (like the chicken dance!)

Needless to say, I was floored when Bailey started flapping her arms. Then, she was trying to wiggle (which was quite funny!) And finally started running around the room jumping (which is a new milestone as we just started working on that the past couple weeks). She clears a good inch off the ground though!!)

They kept chanting, “Up! Down! Wiggle! Flap!” and although the speed was way too fast for her, she kept picking up a specific piece and doing that one. I was just happy to see that letting her watch a little tv (restricted solely to Nick Jr. because they have shows like this AND no commercials) before she goes to bed might actually be teaching her something.

I’m actually so happy I just might do the dragon dance! 😉

No picture because I was prepared, but I did take this one for Johnny who wanted to see how her face looked this morning after she fell out of her chair last night and smashed her nose into re corner of a tv in her room. OUCH! and it further blackened her eye 😦

Of course, she’s grinning hard saying “CHEEEEEESE!” That’s my girl!!

My Friend Froggie
October 12, 2011

Bailey’s newest “obsession” is Froggie, pictured here:

20111012-235042.jpg

He is actually not a new obsession, per se, but rather an old resurfaced one. Originally a baby shower gift from her Great-Aunt Ann, he’s actually been in and out of her crib since pretty much day one that she came home. That being said, I guess he’s providing her some needed comfort on these dreary Fall mornings for that long 15 minute ride to “Steph-nie’s”.

Good news is she is willing to give him up when asked:

20111012-235441.jpg

He went with us into he grocery store and the lady asked “what’s his name?” She wasn’t too impressed when I just said “Froggie.” I guess I could have told her, “Just wait until you meet Bob!”

The Devil is in the Details

Or, if you look close, you’ll find her in the Dollar General!!

Johnny found this cute headband…

And when I commented that “all she needs now is a pitchfork”, it magically appeared!!

If anyone has any doubts, feel free to offer to babysit!!!

But, I guess I can look at the silver lining… Bailey is obviously going to be an early starter… The terrible twos are in full swing at only 20 months!!

Bug Bites/Bee Stings & Benadryl’d Bailey Bear
October 10, 2011

20111010-104842.jpg

Saturday, when looking at some houses in Warrenton, Bailey was stung by a bee or bit by a bug or had SOMETHING DO SOMETHING detrimental to her face, right under her left eye. It made a small welt and we didn’t think anything of it.

Fast forward to Sunday morning. Bailey wakes up with a small part under her left eye swollen. Throughout the day, it continued to get worse. By nightfall, it was starting to swell above her eye as well. A phone call to the pediatrician on call resulted in “a teaspoon of Benadryl every 6 hours, but it’s not an emergency unless her eyeball isn’t moving.” I REALLY don’t like that specific, in my opinion, seriously uncaring doctor. If her eyeball stops moving, I’m going into full blown panic mode, versus the partial panic mode I’m in already?!?

Monday morning, Bailey is up by 5:30 and her eye is almost swollen completely shut. Johnny and I both take off work to head to Dr. Bunge, who says she IS having an allergic reaction, but she’s also concerned infection is setting in. So, now poor little Bailey Bear is on Benadryl every 6 hours (even to the point of waking her up at 1:00 am to make sure she doesn’t miss a single dose) and twice a day antibiotics.

But, the good news is that she seems a little better this evening, although the Benadryl is NOT a good fit for her. After her dose at 7:00, she ran around the living room for almost 30 minutes.

At full speed.

Giggling like a maniac.

Hmmmmmm. I think Stephanie might have her work cut out for her this week!!

Going… Going….
